Background
Timmons initially wrote the song's chorus, but asked Millard to complete the song. The lyrics have been inspired by Timmons' life with terminal cancer, which he had been struggling with at the time of the song's writing. Millard's addition was inspired by his son's diagnosis with juvenile diabetes when he was two years old.[5][6][7]
